Pastor Ray Carson, also called Bishop Carson, has pastored
GPC for 35 years. He married Evelyn Dale Doucet in December, 1957, while still
in college at Trevecca University in Nashville. He and his wife have two
daughters, Patricia and Raybecca, who both are married and live in Texas with
their husbands and children.
He was raised in Nashville since he was 4-years-old and became
pastor of Goodlettsville Pentecostal Church (GPC) on May 16, 1969 and spent part
of his pastoral years serving the United Pentecostal Church Tennessee District.
He was district youth secretary from 1964-1973 and was later elected district
youth president. He also served 12 years as sectional presbyter.
In 2004, Bishop Carson was instrumental in the purchase of
approximately 50 acres near its current location. The congregation later pledged
more than $1.3 million to construct a 1,000 seat church campus in the next few
years. Bishop Carson has stepped down from pastoral duties at GPC as of April 1,
2005, but continues to be involved in hospital ministry and soul winning. He
plans on travelling and ministering where he can be effective.
