Laura Payne was raised in Athens, , where she lived with her missionary family from age 4 until she was 18.   Her international upbringing is very important to her and she considers it a big part of who she is today.

After graduating from Christian Life Collegein 1993 with a B.A. in Christian Music, she received a B.A. in Music Education from Butler University and then a Masters in Music from University of the Pacific. In 1996, Laura and her husband, Kevin, moved to Stockton, CA. From 1996 to 2005 Laura served as the Dean of Music for Christian Life College, mentoring young music ministers and creating a dynamic educational program.

While serving as the Dean of Music for Christian Life College, Laura produced 3 choir albums, a worship album, a quartet project, and several solo albums. She has written many songs and has had over 25 songs recorded by artists such as Passion in Praise, Shurece Byrd, Certain Sound, Kassie Dutton and The CLC Choir and Chorale Laura has also written two applied piano method books and is completing a Guide to Songwriting.

Most recently, Laura has joined with other music leaders around the country to form Heart of Worship Ministries. Heart of Worship is a ministry group committed to empowering worshippers with apostolic principles and relevant resources. In 2006 their yearly conference was held in Alexandria, LA and in the summer of 2007 will be in Ashburn, VA. Upcoming venues include Colorado and New Brunswick, Canada. Laura and Kevin, with their three sons Gabriel, Christian and Jaeden moved to Goodlettsville in 2007 to join the GPC staff as Music Minister. The Payne family is a welcomed addition to the GPC team.
